BAXTER, Minn. — All who travel on Highway 10 in Wadena County are invited to attend an open house to learn more about the Highway 10 construction project in Wadena in 2020.
The City of Wadena and MnDOT will hold the open house from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the gym at Maslowski Wellness & Research Community Center at 17 Fifth Street SW in Wadena on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Guests will learn more about the 2020 project detour and details, see project layouts, have an opportunity to ask questions and take home information. There is no formal presentation and guests are invited to arrive any time.
Work began in 2019 on Highway 10 to repave the road on the east and west ends of Wadena and replace underground drainage structures near Union Creek. Detours on Highway 10 are still in place through mid-October. In 2020, crews will reconstruct Highway 10 between Third Street and County Road 4 with staged detours. Once complete in October 2020, the $12.4 million project will:
- Widen and reconstruct the road
- Improve access and traffic flow
- Upgrade pedestrian sidewalks
- Upgrade city storm sewers and install new LED street lighting
- Replace the signal systems at Second Street W. and Highway 71
- Upgrade the railroad crossings on Highway 71 and Second Street W.
