Public invited to learn about the Highway 119 resurfacing project at Appleton open house on April 10

Construction begins this spring

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – The public is invited to an open house to learn more about the 2019 resurfacing project on Highway 119 from Highway 12 north of Appleton to Highway 40 in Lac Qui Parle County. The open house will be held from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 10, at the Appleton Civic Center, 323 West Schlieman Avenue.

Construction on Highway 119 will begin this spring and is expected to last through early July, weather permitting. This project excludes the portion of Highway 119 within the city limits of Appleton.

Motorists will encounter lane closures throughout the duration of the project, and a section of the roadway in Lac Qui Parle County, from County Road 34 to Highway 40, will be closed for a portion of the project. Traffic will be detoured during this time to County Roads 34, 19 and 26.

Residents and business owners are encouraged to attend the open house to learn more about the project and traffic impacts. Representatives from the project team will be available to discuss details and answer questions.

In addition to the Highway 119 resurfacing project, the Milan Bridge project team will also be available at the open house to answer questions. The Milan Bridge replacement project on Highway 40 east of Milan is also scheduled for the 2019 construction season.
