Hwy 74 detour begins May 18 for bridge replacement north of Whitewater State Park

ELBA, Minn. —Motorists on Hwy 74 between Weaver and Elba will be detoured beginning Monday, May 18 for a bridge replacement project, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The project is north of Elba. The highway between Weaver and Winona Co. Rd. 30 near Beaver will be closed and detoured during the project, which is expected to be completed in mid-July. The project is north of Whitewater State Park, but park traffic is not affected by the work.

The detour route is Winona Co. Rd. 30 east to Winona Co. Rd. 31 north to Wabasha Co. Rd. 29 north to Hwy 61.

Icon Constructors is the prime contractor on the $606,484 construction project.

MnDOT road work has been identified as a critical service in Gov. Tim Walz’s Stay at Home executive order. Following guidance from state and federal health officials, and to prevent further spread of COVID-19, crews will maintain physical distancing practices while working.
