France Avenue Bridge Repair in Edina Begins April 12 with Hwy 62 weekend closure
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — MnDOT, in partnership with Hennepin County, will repair the France Avenue bridge and other infrastructure on Hwy 62 and France Avenue in Edina starting April 12, weather permitting. This work consists of repairing the France Avenue bridge over Hwy 62, pavement resurfacing, replacing the signal system, safety improvements at France Avenue and Hwy 62, lengthening the acceleration lane on ramp to eastbound Hwy 62, and making sidewalk and accessibility improvements along the France Avenue bridge.
In preparation, crews will close Hwy 62 between I-35W and Highway 100 starting at 10 p.m. Friday, April 12 through 5 a.m. Monday, April 15. The detour will be I-494. The ramp from France Avenue to westbound Hwy 62 will also be closed starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 10. This closure is to remove the existing France Avenue bridge deck.
France Avenue between 62nd Street and 66th St and the ramps to/from eastbound and westbound Hwy 62 and France Avenue will also close starting 8 p.m. Friday, April 12. Motorists are advised to follow the detour to bypass the France Avenue the closure:
- Northbound France Avenue from Hwy 62: Xerxes Avenue to 60th Street.
- Southbound France Avenue from eastbound Hwy 62: Valley View Road to France Avenue.
- Southbound France from westbound Hwy 62: Xerxes to 66th to France Avenue.
The ramps south of Hwy 62 and France Avenue are expected to re-open by mid-June. The ramps north of Hwy 62 are expected to reopen by mid-July. The bridge work on France Avenue is expected to last through July 2019, weather permitting. The project is expected to be complete in early August.
