Westbound Interstate 94 in St. Paul closing June 7-10 and June 14-17 for resurfacing
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will close westbound Interstate 94 the next two weekends to resurface the interstate between Western Avenue and Highway 280 in St. Paul.
Westbound I-94 will close between Western Avenue and Highway 280 beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, June 7. The ramps along the westbound interstate will close beginning an hour earlier, at 9 p.m. The road and the ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, June 10. The same closure will take place the following weekend, with the road closing Friday, June 14 at 10 p.m. and reopening Monday, June 17 by 5 a.m.
During the closures, there will be no access to the westbound interstate in the project area (Western Ave. to Highway 280). Eastbound I-94 will remain open.
The detour for westbound traffic will direct motorists north on I-35E, west on Highway 36 and south on Highway 280. However, local traffic can remain on westbound I-94 until the road closes at Western Avenue.
The road repairs on the eastbound lanes in the same area will take place on two consecutive weekends in September.
The resurfacing project will provide a smoother ride for motorists using I-94. Motorists should plan ahead and give themselves additional time to reach their destinations.
