Highway 252/I-94 Environmental Review

Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park and Minneapolis

Project Manager Newsletter

August 2025

Hello and welcome to a belated August 2025 PM Newsletter. It’s been a steadily busy time on the project these past few weeks. I hope everyone’s summer is going well, with well wishes and support for those affected by recent tragic events in our Twin Cities community. This month I will talk about where we are at in the EIS process, what engagement is to come, and give a brief update and reminder of our Journey to Community Wellness meetings.

We are currently wrapping up Phase 1B where we evaluated the different Access Combinations for Hwy 252 and are preparing for Phase 2 which determines the mainline configuration for highways 252 and 94.

We had a busy summer of engagement opportunities. As you may know, the project team hosts a coffee chat on the fourth Thursday of every month. We just held the last coffee chat on August 28 at Brother’s Taqueria. The next coffee chat will be held in Minneapolis at V3 Soul Bowl on September 25. You can find more information about meetings and events on the meetings webpage.

I would like to introduce you to the Journey to Community Wellness. If you aren’t familiar with this or haven’t heard about it yet, the Journey to Community Wellness includes looking at solutions for public health, equity, and other community needs in the Cities of Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, and Minneapolis. We have had some opportunities to hear your feedback about solutions that can help improve the above items, including two public forums, but more is to come. The goal of this work is to implement some of the solutions parallel to the environmental work along Hwy 252 and I-94. If you have any thoughts on how to improve community needs in your area, please let us know.

Your feedback means a lot to us and this month we are asking to hear from you on what formats of engagement you would like from MnDOT this fall. However, if you have any other questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to communicate that with us as well through our project email or phone number found on the contacts webpage. Enjoy the last days of summer!
