Lane closures

5 a.m. Mon, April 7 through mid-August

• I-94 is reduced to two lanes in both directions between 11th Ave. South and Franklin Ave. Southeast

5 a.m. Mon, March 31 through 5 a.m. Mon, June 16

• The following ramps are reduced to one lane:
• Southbound I-35W to eastbound Hwy 55
• Westbound Hwy 55 to westbound I-94
• Westbound Hwy 55 to South 7th St.

Ramp closures

9 a.m. Fri, April 4 through 5 a.m. Mon, June 16

• The following ramps are closed:
  • Westbound I-94 to Riverside Ave.
    • Detour: Westbound I-94, northbound Cedar Ave. and Riverside Ave. (PNG)
  • Riverside Ave./Butler Pl. South to westbound I-94
    • Detour: Southbound 25th Ave. South, westbound East Franklin Ave., southbound Cedar Ave., northbound Hwy 55 and westbound I-94. (PNG)
  • Huron Blvd. to I-94
    • Huron Blvd. to eastbound I-94 detour: Eastbound University Ave. Southeast, southbound North Eustis St., eastbound Franklin Ave. and eastbound I-94 (PNG)
    • Huron Blvd. to westbound I-94 detour: Westbound University Ave. Southeast, northbound Southeast Oak St., westbound Southeast 4th St., southbound I-35W and westbound I-94 (PNG)

Upcoming

Information about upcoming traffic impacts will be posted as details become available. All lanes on I-94 between 11th Ave. South and Franklin Ave. Southeast are expected to reopen to traffic for the Minnesota State Fair from mid-August through Labor Day. Work will resume after Labor Day to complete the removal of crossovers and other items such as signage and lighting.

Road closures

10 p.m. Fri, June 13 through 5 a.m. Mon, June 16

• I-94 is closed in both directions between I-35W and Huron Blvd.
  • Detour: I-35W, Hwy 36, I-35E and I-94 (PNG)

Ramp closures

9 p.m. Fri, June 13 through late August

• The following ramps are closed:
  • Northbound I-35W to eastbound I-94
    • Detour: Northbound I-35W to eastbound Hwy 36, southbound I-35E and eastbound I-94 (PNG)
  • South 6th St. to eastbound I-94
  • Huron Blvd. to and from eastbound I-94
  • Riverside Ave. to eastbound I-94
  • Cedar Ave. to eastbound I-94

5 a.m. Mon, June 23 through Mon, June 30

• The ramp from Hwy 55 to westbound I-94 is closed

Lane closures

5 a.m. Mon, June 16 through early August

• Cedar Ave. is reduced to one lane in each direction under the I-94 bridges

Bridge closures

Mid-July through early August

• Riverside Ave. bridge over I-94 is closed
  • Motorist and bicyclists detour: East Franklin Ave., 26th Ave. South and 25th Ave. South (PNG)
  • Pedestrian detour: South 9th St. and 25th Ave. South (PNG)

About this project

We will be doing maintenance and repair work on five bridges along I-94 in Minneapolis. These bridges include:

• I-94 bridge (Dartmouth Bridge) that spans the Mississippi River
• Riverside Ave. bridge over I-94
• I-94 over Cedar Ave.
• I-94 over the Light Rail Transit (Blue Line)
• I-94 over Hwy 55/Hiawatha Ave.

Summary of work

• Construct temporary crossovers
• Repair bridge decks
• Resurface bridge pavement
• Remove and replace bridge joints
• Update guardrails
• Upgrade drainage
• Repaint bridge steel
