Highway 65 repair, resurfacing and bridge replacement project between Spring Lake Park and East Bethel begins Monday, April 8, 2024

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Resurfacing, repairs and bridge replacement on more than 19 miles of Hwy 65 between Anoka County Road 10 in Spring Lake Park and 237th Avenue in East Bethel begins Monday, April 8th, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. In addition to 16.5 miles of new pavement, the project will include full-depth pavement reconstruction to correct settlement areas. Crews also will replace bridges with box culverts at Coon Creek and south of Viking Boulevard and north of Constance Boulevard. Additional work will install high-tension cable median barrier between Bunker Lake Boulevard and 237th Avenue, improve drainage, and install curb ramp and sidewalk improvements at several intersections along with traffic signal replacement at 85th Avenue and 93rd Avenue in Blaine.
As preliminary work begins on Monday, April 8, motorists will encounter nighttime lane closures beginning at the south end of the construction area.

During this year’s work, motorists will encounter single lane head-to-head traffic on the side of the highway not under construction through the project area beginning in late April. There also will be four full weekend closures with detours, a full month-long closure between Constance Boulevard and Viking Boulevard in June and a ten-day closure of 93rd Lane in Blaine.
Information about upcoming traffic impacts will be posted as details become available.
The project will be completed by late fall of 2024.

Eight temporary crossovers were built last fall to allow for an earlier start this year. The crossovers will allow traffic to cross the median and travel in a single lane in each direction on the side not under construction. Construction crews also replaced 12 culverts beneath the road between Spring Lake Park and East Bethel.
