Faribault traffic signal replacement completed at Hwy 21/7th Street NW
FARIBAULT, Minn. – Intersection improvements and the traffic signal replacement are completed at Highway 21 and 7th Street NW in Faribault, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
What happened
Work started Sept. 23 at Highway 21 and 7th Street NW and included the following improvements:
- Signals replaced and upgraded.
- Westbound 7th Street NW was expanded to include separate left and right turn lanes, as well as the middle thru lane.
- The signal includes a left turn green turn arrow, as well as a flashing yellow arrow. Motorists must yield to oncoming traffic with the flashing yellow arrow but may turn when safe to do so.
- 7th Street NW eastbound includes a left turn lane and a shared thru/right turn lane.
- The signal includes a left turn green turn arrow, as well as a flashing yellow arrow. Motorists must yield to oncoming traffic with the flashing yellow arrow but may turn when safe to do so.
- Pedestrian crossings were added on the east and north approaches.
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements were included in the work.
Motorists should be alert to the changes. Pavement markings and signs in advance provide direction to drivers on the lanes.
What comes next
This is part of a two-year signal and intersection improvement project at three state highway locations in Faribault. In 2025, improvements will be made at the Highway 60 and Western Avenue intersection and the Highway 60 and 3rd Street NE intersection.
