Potential safety improvements identified as Hwy 371 Nisswa to Baxter corridor study concludes
BAXTER, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has completed its study of Hwy 371 between Nisswa and Baxter in Crow Wing County. As a key part of the study, MnDOT has developed 18 potential designs that would improve safety and traffic flow throughout the corridor.
“During the multi-year study, we looked at safety enhancements and how they will support continued growth from Nisswa to Baxter. Our design recommendations would help improve local traffic and those traveling through the area,” said Tom Cruikshank, MnDOT Project Manager. “The proposed improvements could be implemented once funding is identified. Safety was our main focus on the potential designs.”
Through the study, MnDOT received public input that helped identify safety concerns and potential future improvements. The study included an analysis of traffic, safety, land use, demographics and development.
On the study website, MnDOT has posted the proposed designs for intersections and further information about investments the Department will make in technology along the Hwy 371 corridor.
