Weekend traffic switch planned for Highway 10 third lane project in Coon Rapids
ROSEVILLE, Minn. –Eastbound Highway 10 motorists will encounter single lane traffic this weekend, as crews shift traffic for the Highway 10 third lane addition construction in Coon Rapids. Work to shift traffic from the outside lanes to the inside lanes of the highway between Round Lake Blvd. and Hanson Blvd. will begin at 11 p.m. Friday Aug. 22 and last through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Early Saturday morning crews will remove concrete barrier for the through traffic bypass and local traffic lanes on eastbound Highway 10. Traffic also will be stopped for a short time periods between 1:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday morning.
Beginning Sunday morning, there also will be short-term ramp closures at the following ramps to and from Highway 10:
- Round Lake Blvd. to eastbound Highway 10;
- Eastbound Highway 10 to Main Street;
- Hanson Blvd to eastbound Highway 10;
- Main Street to eastbound Highway 10; and
- Eastbound Highway 10 to Hanson Blvd
During the ramp closures, motorists should use alternate routes.
When the eastbound traffic shift is completed Monday morning, there will be two lanes of traffic in the eastbound direction. Then at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, the contractor will begin to shift westbound Highway traffic in the same area. During the westbound traffic switch, motorists will be restricted to a single lane until 12 noon on Tuesday, Aug. 26. The ramps from Hanson Blvd. to westbound Highway 10 and from westbound Highway 10 to Main Street and Hanson Blvd. also will close for up to three hours each. When completed on Tuesday, traffic will be two lanes on the inside lanes of the westbound highway.
