Expect delays for Hwy 2 paving in Grand Rapids Sept. 15 - 19
DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be working on milling and paving Highway 2 in the Grand Rapids area the week of Sept. 15. Motorists can expect flagging operations, lane closures, and pilot cars during day light working hours. There may be extended delays especially during commute times.
On Sept. 15 and 16, work will take place in the City of Grand Rapids including on the cross streets of SE 7th Avenue and NE 8th Avenue. From the 16th through the 19th, work will also be occurring between NE 3rd Street in Grand Rapids to Kolp Road in Coleraine.

Work Zone Safety Tips:
- Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
- Drive undistracted. Avoid using cell phones, mobile devices, adjusting the radio – even eating –while in work zones.
- Move over. Give workers room to safely complete their work.
- Be patient. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Do the zipper merge.
- Avoid making unnecessary lane changes.
- Never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
