Tree removal begins next week along Interstate 35E to prepare for replacement of
I-35E bridge over Shepard Road in St. Paul

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will remove trees and brush along Interstate 35E and Shepard Road in St. Paul next week. The tree clearing is in preparation for a project to replace the I-35E bridge over Shepard Road just north of the Mississippi River near downtown St. Paul. Construction crews will begin work Monday, March 2 and will work from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Wednesday, March 4, weather permitting.

Motorists will encounter daily lane closures on Shepard Road and I-35E during the work. The ramp from Highway 5/West 7th Street to southbound I-35E will close from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4 and traffic will detour on Lexington Ave. to southbound I-35E by way of Shepard Road.

MnDOT staff respects the value that trees and other vegetation bring to residents and has carefully identified trees that need to be removed for the construction. Nearby residents and businesses may encounter some noise and disruption during tree and brush removal. MnDOT will do our best to keep noise and other disruptions to a minimum.
