Northbound Snelling Avenue weekend closure May 29-June 1 in
Arden Hills, Roseville
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Northbound Highway 51/Snelling Ave./Hamline Ave. will close this weekend for resurfacing in Roseville and Arden Hills.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Fri, May 29, construction crews will close northbound Snelling Ave. between Highway 36 in Roseville and I-694 in Arden Hills through 5 a.m. Mon, June 1.
During the work, cross streets will be closed while crews are working nearby. There will be short-term closures of the ramps and loops from westbound and eastbound Hwy 36 to northbound Snelling Ave. during the weekend.
During the work, motorists should follow the signed detours or use alternate routes to avoid congestion and delays.
The southbound lanes of Snelling Ave. are tentatively scheduled for a full closure from 8 p.m. Fri., June 12 through 5 a.m. Mon., June 15.
Plan ahead by checking 511, and give yourself additional time to reach your destination.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.
Motorists can expect lane, road and intersection closures during construction.
Work on the highway will be completed by late August, before the start of the Minnesota State Fair. Additional work on the signal systems and pedestrian/bicycle crossing upgrades will begin after Labor Day and be completed by early October.
MnDOT is repairing and resurfacing Snelling Ave. between Highway 36 in Roseville and Grey Fox Rd. in Arden Hills. This project will also add connectivity with a new trail section providing access between Lydia Ave. and Snelling Ave., upgrade signal systems and improve accessibility at pedestrian ramps. This work is necessary to maintain the highway system and to provide a smoother road surface and extend pavement life, reduce congestion, improve traffic flow and accessibility and improve safety along the road.
