Roadside plant selection tool
MnDOT’s Plant Selector application is an interactive web-based tool to aid in picking the correct plants for roadside planting. In northern states, this can be a problematic task considering the constraints that exist within a roadside corridor such as the use of salt and other chemicals and how that effects plants in the harsh conditions that exist along the roadsides.
Use the Plant Selector application to:
- Search for plants based on site characteristics, such as topography, plant community, USDA hardiness zones, soil texture (type), salt spray and roadside settings
- Search for plants based on plant characteristics, such as plant height/spread, foliage type, place of origin, flower color, flower seasons, and form.
- Search by plant name
