Roadside planting help

Picking plants for roadside planting in Minnesota can be a problematic task considering the constraints that exist within a roadside corridor and the harsh conditions that exist in these areas. Use the PlantSelector Program to:

  • Search for plants based on site characteristics such as topography, plant community, USDA hardiness zones, soil types, soil compaction and texture.
  • Search for plants based on vegetation characteristics, such as plant form and height, spread, textures, growth rate, foliage colors, flower colors, maintenance, insect and disease concerns and more.
  • PlantSelector now allows for selection of seed mixes throughout the state.
  • Review the Minnesota Noxious Weed list before selecting plants for use in landscape installations.
