MnDOT is studying the Hwy 169 corridor through Hibbing from Hwy 37 to 13th Street East. In this stretch, there are 4 signalized intersections, 6 partial controlled intersections and more access points.
There will also be an Intersection Control Evaluation conducted at the Hwy 169 and 37th Street intersection. The traffic signal at this location needs to be replaced.
Public meeting
MnDOT is hosting a public meeting on Monday, Sept. 9, at 5 p.m. in the Memorial Building, 400 E. 23rd St., Hibbing, to share recommended alternatives for the Hwy 169 corridor through Hibbing. The meeting will be held in the Veterans Quarters room.
This is the third public meeting for the corridor study looking at the Hwy 169 section from Hwy 37 to 13th Street East. MnDOT hosted two public meetings in late 2023 (links below) to gather information on how the corridor functions and then to gather feedback on proposed alternatives. With that feedback, along with traffic and safety data, the Sept. 9 meeting will share those recommendations.
This corridor map shows the recommended intersection improvements. Take a few minutes to look through the corridor and leave your feedback. To leave a comment, zoom in to see specific intersections more clearly and click on "add a comment" and then "submit" when you are finished typing. You can zoom back out and leave multiple comments in various locations.
