Road open to those who live, work or visit areas within the closed work zone. However, expect:
Segments of alternate one-way traffic, reduced speeds, flaggers, slow or stopped vehicles
Changes to access with use of other entrances
Avoid delays—enter and exit the work zone closest to your destination
About this project
MnDOT will resurface and improve 13 miles of Hwy 18 from Hwy 169, east of Garrison, to Hwy 47 in Malmo, Aitkin County. Project requires a detour.
Work summary
Resurface the road (cold in-place recycle)
Replace or repair drainage pipes/culverts
All four new pipes/culverts installed:
A. Between 430th Ave. and 385th Ave.
B. East of 385th Ave.
C. West of 374th Ave.
D. 360th Ave.
Install mumble/rumble strips and restripe
What is cold old-in-place recycle
This is a process that involves a convoy of equipment to finish a road surface, including
tankers that hold emulsion material and water, milling or crushing and recycling
machines, pavers and rollers. This treatment and equipment is being used on the Hwy 18 project.
