Hwy 18 is closed to through traffic between Hwy 169 east of Garrison and Hwy 47 in Malmo.

• Detour: Hwy 169, Co. Rd. 28, Co. Rd. 12 and Hwy 47 (adds 24 miles)

Local access

Road open to those who live, work or visit areas within the closed work zone. However, expect:

• Hard closures to replace four pipes/culverts (A–D) under the road through early August.
• Crews will work west to east:

  A. Between 430th Ave. and 385th Ave. — COMPLETE

  B. East of 385th Ave. — HARD CLOSURE Thu, July 25–Fri, July 26

  C. West of 374th Ave.

  D. 360th Ave.

• Lane closures, reduced speeds, flaggers, slow or stopped traffic
• Changes to access with use of other entrances

About this project

MnDOT will resurface and improve 13 miles of Hwy 18 from Hwy 169, east of Garrison, to Hwy 47 in Malmo, Aitkin County. Project requires a detour.

Work summary

• Resurface the road (cold in-place recycle)
• Replace or repair drainage pipes/culverts
• Install mumble/rumble strips and restripe
