About this project
Hwy 263 from Ceylon to I-90 will be resurfaced in preparation for a turnback of the highway to Martin County. Based on the quality of the pavement, the following segments will have different types of pavement improvements:
- City of Ceylon: four blocks of pavement will be replaced
- Ceylon to Martin County Road (CR) 26: reclamation (a more significant pavement preservation)
- CR 26 to I-90: mill and overlay (pavement preservation)
- Under I-90 bridges: 200’ of pavement will be replaced
Benefits
- Improved pavement, smoother road surface
- Upgraded 4’ paved shoulders to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians
- Improved safety through:
- New lighting at rural intersections (CR 8, CR 22, CR 26)
- Snow control measures along the north side of Hwy 263 from Ceylon to CR 8
- Updated bridge guardrail
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations in Ceylon – improved pedestrian ramps, reduced ramp slopes, replaced sidewalk
- Updated utilities in Ceylon
- Improved drainage
