Environmental Assessment
We have completed an Environmental Assessment report for:
- The Hwy 13 corridor improvements between Dakota Ave. in Savage and Nicollet Ave. in Burnsville
- The reconstruction of the Dakota Ave. intersection
This environmental process provides an overview and assessment of the impacts within both areas.
The environmental report is part of the environmental review process. It outlines the project’s:
- Purpose and need
- Alternatives considered
- Social, economic and environmental impacts
- Minimization and mitigation efforts
The Dakota Ave. intersection improvements will be the first construction project in this corridor. Work at this intersection is scheduled to begin in 2022.
The Environmental Assessment was provided for review and public comment between June 8 and July 8, 2021. Project staff are in the process of reviewing stakeholder and public comments to the Environmental Assessment. The responses to comments and a decision from the federal government on a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) was issued in October 2021.
