Upcoming

Information about upcoming traffic impacts will be posted as details become available. Motorists will encounter lane, ramp and shoulder closures during construction. There will be three weekend full closures of EB Hwy 36. NB Cleveland Ave. to WB Hwy 36 will close for approximately 30 days. WB Hwy 36 will close between Cleveland Ave. and I-35W for approximately 10 days to repair and resurface pavement between the bridge over Cleveland Ave. and the bridge over I-35W. The ramps to/from WB Hwy 36 and Edgerton St. will be closed and detoured for approximately 10 days. The ramps to/from EB Hwy 36 and Edgerton St. will be closed and detoured for approximately 10 days. The closures at Hwy 36 and Edgerton St. will not occur at the same time.

  • Detour: North on I-35W, east on I-694 and south on I-35E

• WB Hwy 36 is closed between Cleveland Ave. and I-35W
• Detour: North on I-35W to Co. Rd. C then use the loop from Co. Rd. C to SB I-35W

About this project

In 2024, we will resurface Hwy 36 from I-35W in Roseville to Edgerton St. in Little Canada and make additional improvements. Resurfacing of aging pavement on Hwy 36 will provide a smoother ride for motorists and extend the life of the existing roadway. A new auxiliary lane from SB I-35W to EB Hwy 36 will provide more distance for drivers to safely merge onto EB Hwy 36 which will ease traffic flow and reduce congestion. Reconstruction of the ramp from NB Cleveland Ave. to EB Hwy 36 and extending the merge lane onto EB Hwy 36 will provide more time for drivers to safely merge into traffic. Improved drainage will also help channel water to prevent pavement damage from flooding and weather events.

• Upgrade sidewalks to meet ADA requirements
• Concrete pavement repair to the ramps between Hwy 36 and Edgerton St.
• Resurface ramps at the following cross streets along Hwy 36:
  • Fairview Ave. (remaining parts of the ramps that were not resurfaced during the 2023 project)
  • Snelling Ave.
  • Hamline Ave.
  • Dale St.
  • Rice St.
  • SB I-35E to WB Hwy 36
  • WB Hwy 36 to NB I-35E
