Reconstruct, improve
2026–2027 roadwork
MnDOT will reconstruct and improve Washington St. (Hwy 210) through Brainerd from Baxter Dr. to Pine Shores Rd. in 2026 and 2027. The project will require detours to work beneath the road.

Summary of work
Hwy 210
- Reconstruct (bridge, central, mall/railyard segments) or resurface (west and east segments) the road
- Reconstruct curbs, gutters, raised medians and storm sewers
- Update signal systems
- Remove signal systems at 4th Ave. NE and Mill Ave.
- Realign and improve access at the Hwy 210 and Hwy 25/Mill Ave., includes two roundabouts
- Upgrade city utilities beneath the road
- Upgrade pedestrian sidewalks and approaches and reconstruct/connect the Cuyuna Lakes Trail
- Update the Mississippi River Bridge

- West — Baxter Dr. to 4th St.
- Bridge — 4th St. NW to east of the Mississippi River at E River St./N 1st St.
- Downtown — E River St./N 1st St. to west of 13th St. SE
- Mall/Railyard — 10th Ave. E to 5th Ave. NE (mall) and 5th Ave. E to east of Kingwood St. (railyard)
- East — 10th Ave. NE to Pine Shores Rd.
Work segments subject to change once more is known.

Motorists: One-lane traffic, changes to access along Hwy 210, gravel surfaces, segments of detours
Pedestrians: Sidewalk closures, signed detours
