Regulations

In Minnesota, drones are governed by federal regulations, state statutes, and administrative rules. This page provides links to authoritative repositories for regulations, statutes, and rules relevant to drone operations. It will be updated as information is received.

However, it is always the responsibility of the drone operator to ensure he or she is in compliance with all relevant regulations, statutes, and rules, regardless of whether they have been posted here.

Federal Regulations

Most federal regulations regarding aircraft are found in Title 14 Combined Federal Regulations (CFR). Authoritative text of CFRs is provided by the Government Printing Office via the e-CFR system.

Minnesota Regulations

Minnesota statutes are published electronically by the Office of the Revisor of Statutes. Chapter 360 deals with aeronautics, which includes regulation of airports and aircraft.  Take special note of 360.59.
